We have an in-progress Internet-Draft (I-D) that creates two distinct, but related, IANA registries, one for "WebAuthn Attestation Formats" and one for "WebAuthn Extension Identifiers".

the initial draft of this I-D is here..

We can and should at this time add appropriate placeholder references to the WebAuthn spec draft referencing these to-be-created registries, and noting the existence of draft-hodges-webauthn-registries-00 -- this will hopefully mitigate misunderstandings among us regarding whether we are creating registries or not.

A related but different issue is whether or not to have the actual specification of the presently-known attestation formats within the webauthn spec or in a separate specification. See #108
