Purpose of change

Flyers, newspapers, and lab terminal snippets are getting out of date to the lore in game currently. For example, flyers are largely devoted to advertising CBMs that are rare at the consumer level, if they're available at all.

Describe the solution

Replace flyers with setting appropriate text that builds on the lore of what happened around the cataclysm, including religious handouts and FEMA brochures.

Move flyer contents out of newspapers so that newspapers are reliably a source of interesting lore instead of often containing only an ad. The ads can be presumed to be there, but the assumption is that the newspaper snippet is a major article of note.

Rewrite most newspaper articles and move them to their own file. These now describe the cataclysm as laid out in the background section of the design doc, albeit with a lot of red herrings.

After review I decided to move flyers and survivor notes to their own files, to keep the bloat down in snippets.json

Describe alternatives you've considered

considered moving the old flyers to Aftershock. Still could I guess.

Testing

Not yet tested in game, although it's a strict text change and unlikely to cause problems.

Additional context

If anyone is aware of other spots that suggest this is a high tech near future setting, let me know.

This probably needs more red herrings but I've done a lot of writing and need a little break from this specific project for a bit. Other contributors would be welcome to add more.

These would actually fit well in Aftershock. CBMs are expensive but common enough to have organizations that expect them in their members.

This is definitely something that's needed, especially from a dev with a hand in the lore. I'd updated snippets somewhat a little bit ago, but I focused mostly on the newspapers and survivor notes, and I'm not an expert or a dev so things may be somewhat off or still out-of date with those (for example, the A-H3N2 CDC notes are my bad, sorry on that).

I don't think anybody's touched lab text in a long time, so that in particular is likely highly outdated. The Hazardous Waste Sarcophagus may also need some updating as well.

Newspapers require more work than I thought. Flyers are basically done, although I'm migrating some things from newspapers over there. Survivor notes are done. Still have to work more on the one year old news and haven't yet touched the months- or weeks-old news. The rest is done.

Personally I believe the new lore is a huge improvement and a lot more cohesive.
