Content guidance: consequential callout

The consequential callout pattern is used in forms to inform the users of any impacts their selected answer may have.

Overview

Step 1

Display questions as normal.

If the answer selected has an associated consequence, display the explanation in an alert pattern. Consequential callout step 2

Usage

When to use

Use the consequential callout pattern when:

  • you want to let users know the impact of their current form field selection.
  • the form field input is a radio button, checkbox or dropdown.

When NOT to use

Do not use the consequential callout pattern when:

  • providing information that relates to all possible answers.
  • providing information that will help the user properly and accurately answer the question.
