Assembly Instructions (Part I)
The first thing to assemble in the robot is the motors.
You need to get:
- 1x DC motor
- 1x Motor Bracket Holder (with screws)
You will use the two larger screws and the screw nuts to attach the holder to the motor.
Now you need to repeat the same procedure with the second DC motor. Be sure to keep the small screws in their bags as you will need them later.
Place the two motors in the same position as they are in the picture and check if the holes in the motor holders are turned UP.
This is very important in the next steps.
Now that you prepared the two motors, you need to prepare the bottom platform.
Grab the components, depicted in the following image.
You will need:
- 1x Bottom platform
- 1x Breadboard
- 2x Spacer M310mm
- 4x M3 6mm Screws
- 1x Caster Ball
- 4x M3 Flat washer
If your platform came with the white protective plastic, peel it off to make it transparent.
Grab the breadboard and take the protective paper so that you can glue it to the platform.
Be sure to place the breadboard on the side that DOES NOT HAVE the red ribbon!
The next step is to place the Caster Ball... To do this, grab the 6mm M3 screw and place it on the platform...
Then, on the other side of the platform, place the Flat Washer...
... and then attach the 1mm Spacer to it...
Repeat the same procedure so that you get the 2 spacers attached to the platform.
Placing the Caster Ball is a very simple process. Just make sure you put the flat washers in the right place.
Don't forget to repeat the process with the second 6mm screw...
Don't forget to watch carefully to check for any errors in your assembly.
For the next steps you will need the following parts:
- 2x Spacer M3 30mm
- 2x M3 10mm Screws
Place one of the 10mm screw in the hole in the platform...
... and attach the 30mm spacer to it.
Repeat the same procedure on the other side of the platform...
... and make sure the screws are tight.
It's very important that all parts are fitted in the platform in the correct place so compare your assembly with the one in the picture and correct anything if necessary.
Now it's time to attach the two motors to the platform.
To do it, you will need the pre-assembled motors and the small screws that you saved from a previous step.
Place one motor UNDER the platform, in the position showed in the next picture...
... and attach it with the screws. Be sure they are well tight.
Repeat the same procedure to the other motor.
To successfully complete this step of the assembly, make sure the motors were attached in the platform as depicted in this CHECKPOINT.
It's now time to assemble the wheels and tyres of the robot.
You will need:
- 2x Plastic Wheels
- 2x O-Ring
- 2x PZD Screw 2.5x12mm
Check the following video to know how to assemble the robot wheels.
To finish this first part, let's arrange the wires...
Make sure the wires that come out of the motors pass through the holes in the platform as in the next Checkpoint.
