FYI that #6356 will provide an option to generate the images rather than pulling from DAGsHub such that dvc could be avoided.

I just noticed that our free Vercel plan will be discontinued (https://vercel.com/gmt):

I added an option to generate the images in #6473, but the number of issues reported with remote files in https://vercel.com/gmt/gmt/3LtDJS1pt31f6AT7LkpWxFZeMCtu indicates that this will not be a feasible solution to the docs preview failures.
