The offending new occurs on line 40 of meepgeom.cpp in this block of the

This is why every time a geom_epsilon object is created, it calls
set_default_material with the default argument vacuum (as in the C++ unit
tests array-slice-ll.cpp and others) which results in a heap allocation.

Even though it is not listed as an error in the log output, it was causing the sanitizer on GitHub Actions to fail. |

This PR fixes a couple of memory leaks in the
geom_epsilon
class. The first is a simple check to avoid duplicating therestricted_tree
object ingeom_epsilon::set_volume
. The second is manually deleting the global variabledefault_material
(which is a pointer tomaterial_data
) by calling a new functionmeep_geom::unset_default_material()
at the end of two C++ unit tests (array-slice-ll.cpp
andcyl-ellipsoid-ll.cpp
).With these two fixes, the address sanitizer in the GitHub Actions CI passes and can thus be enabled by default for all subsequent PRs.
