Introduction

Before going into download details, I'd like to add this message to explain a few things about project's progress in the last week.

After the first release, I was literally overwhelmed by the number of issues opened here on GitHub, and this made me spend the following 3 days working for 24 hours straight to solve them and make people happy.

While in a first moment I thought that I could keep up with that pace, I realized that it wasn't possible to go on because I was spending more time replying to people's issues instead of trying to fix them. And this happened also because it seems that some people can't read and follow rules (and maybe some of them don't even understand what BETA means), so a great number of those issues were duplicates or questions that didn't belong here. Still, I had to spend time closing them and explaining to people what the Issues section should be used for.

This leads to the conclusion of this introduction, which is the answer to the biggest question that I'm receiving: why did it took an entire week to release this 1.1.0 update? Because I needed to slow things down to make a better job and fix things before you could open 5 copy-and-paste issues for the very same problem.
Also, a good number of skilled people showed up, and this changed my plans because they helped getting new features that I didn't plan to include in this version, so taking more time was the best choice (at least for me!).

I hope that you guys understand that we're doing this for fun and that this can't be our only reason for living. We're on holidays too, so please try to be more patient this time :)

What is this RC1 thing?

Well, the idea is to gradually reach 1.1.0 to release it when it'll be more mature, as it'll be the first stable version of this project. So, what we'll do is to release a Release Candidate (number 1 this time) and, if this will be mature enough, we'll promote it to the stable 1.1.0. If not, we'll try to fix the current bugs and go for another RC version, until we're happy with its stability and features.

This makes your help even more precious, and your cooperation too: as you probably already noticed, all the issues have been closed. I closed them because I need you guys to report issues for the RC1 version (so we don't need the outdated ones), and I need you to report those issues only. From now on there will be zero tolerance for people using the Issues section as a discussion forum to ask for the next release or to help them compiling the code because they never used Visual Studio.

If you want things to go smooth as possible, starting from this release please use the Issues section wisely, by posting only if your issue has not been reported yet and by avoiding useless questions. Also, reporting an error doesn't mean "app doesn't work", because we're not mind-readers. We need details on what happened and what you were doing when you encountered the problem.

Instructions

  • Download the ZIP package for your architecture (ARM for mobile, x86/x64 for PC)
  • Follow instructions in the Wiki
  • Please follow this template to report a new issue

Known Issues

  • Some buttons are not working. They're just placeholders but we didn't add the features yet.
  • Closing button sometimes overlaps the Pokemon in catched Pokemon list
  • Opening the Pokemon details page may cause a crash
  • After leveling up, experience bar on map page shows a wrong value
  • Translations are incomplete
  • Wrong theme may be applied, leading to white text over light map
  • No visual feedback after Egg Hatching, you'll still receive rewards but nothing is shown
  • Some animations really suck

Changelog

We closed 133 between issues & pull requests for this Milestone, and some of them were not even tracked, so a LOT of things changed.

Here are the most important changes:

  • Changed capture page: you can now flick to throw the ball (experimental)
  • Added new map styles to mimic the original app (you can enable them in settings)
  • Added profile page with achievements
  • Added Pokemon detail page where you can evolve, power up and transfer your Pokemon
  • Added Pokemon and Eggs inventory, you can now Incubate your eggs
  • Added Google Login (not supporting 2FA for now)
  • Added translations
  • Added device spoofing, you device will now act as an iPhone to try preventing bugs (we can't guarantee that you're safe from bans, but this may help)
  • Fixed countless bugs
  • Revamped UI

Credits

I'd like to give a massive thank you to all the people that helped me with this project because everyone did really a good job. Also, a thank you is needed for that little part of you that decided to donate, thanks for your support!

Press

I need to leave a message for those of you who would like to write an article about this project on this blog/site. While I really appreciate that you're willing to promote our work, there is a simple basic rule that I ask you to follow: please link back to the release and the Wiki, don't just hotlink the files and add your own instructions.

If people skip this page and the Wiki, they'll never know about rules and how things are supposed to work, so instead of helping they'll just cause more troubles by opening unnecessary issues, slowing development down. (As you can see we have 476 closed issues, half of them were not needed at all.)

Thanks for understanding, now enjoy the app!
