Description

OPL3 Bank Editor - is a free and open-source cross-platform editor of sound banks for Yamaha OPL3 (YMF262) of various formats. It can be used to edit existing banks from various DOS games and music applications, create new, or even transfer instruments between different banks of any format.

Existing bank editors like SB-Timbre or AdLib InsMaker are inconvenient and limited in functionality, and they require use of an emulator like DosBox. Some bank editors are proprietary and unavailable to a wide community (for example, the JungleVision Bank Editor is a part of the paid package of the audio library SDK). Most existing bank editors have a common limitation in support of different bank formats and absence of backward compatibility. Some bank formats never had a bank editor which was able to edit them (for example, TMB bank files are was created through conversion of two IBK files via the utility included in the Apogee/3D Realms audio library SDK).

The OPL3 Bank Editor was created to solve all of those problems.
