Dart Editor 64 bit error: Chromium built for 32 bit

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Download '64-bit Dart Editor (latest)'.
2. Run the included chrome on 64 bit system.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Chromium should start.
Instead nothing happens since programs dies while loading libs.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

* 64-bit Dart Editor (latest)

• Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit, fully updated

Please provide any additional information below.

While running the editor same problem can be produced by clicking the 'Run' button.
This will result in the following message:

  Could not launch browser - process terminated on startup:

  Dartium stderr: /home/user/bin/dart/dart-sdk/chromium/chrome: error while loading shared libraries: libgconf-2.so.4:
  wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

Running Chromium directly from the terminal yields:
  user@computer:~/bin/dart/dart-sdk/chromium $ ./chrome
  ./chrome: error while loading shared libraries: libgconf-2.so.4: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

Making sure we're indeed on a 64 bit system:
  user@computer:~ $ uname -a
  Linux computer 3.0.0-16-generic #­28-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 27 17:44:39 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Making sure it's not the lib:
  user@computer:/bin/dart/dart-sdk/chromium $ locate libgconf-2.so.4
  /usr/lib/libgconf-2.so.4
  /usr/lib/libgconf-2.so.4.1.5
  user@computer:/bin/dart/dart-sdk/chromium $ file /usr/lib/libgconf-2.so.4
  /usr/lib/libgconf-2.so.4: symbolic link to `libgconf-2.so.4.1.5'
  user@computer:~/bin/dart/dart-sdk/chromium $ file /usr/lib/libgconf-2.so.4.1.5
  /usr/lib/libgconf-2.so.4.1.5: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped

Having a look at the included Chromium build:
  user@computer:~/bin/dart/dart-sdk/chromium $ file ./chrome
  ./chrome: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.15, not stripped

The problem hence seems to be that the included Chromium build was built as a 32 bit executable.

If anyone faced the same problem, here is a simple work-around. Open a terminal and do the following:

cd dart/dart-sdk/chromium

mv chrome chrome.bak

cat > chrome
#!/bin/sh
google-chrome $*
< press ctrl + d >

chmod a+x chrome

Now if we run the program, the application should open-up in Google-Chrome.
Note that Google-Chrome doesn't understand dart and it requires you to click on "Tools > Generate Javascript", when you open a new project.

I clean-installed Ubuntu 12.04 a couple days ago (x64) and surprisingly Dartium works. (Downloaded the latest Dart Editor (x64) version from the site.

P.S. While it works on my machine, I have heard that someone still had the problem even on 12.04. That's why it was surprising to me.
