The following was reported on misc@dartlang:

I have submitted two changes to fix this problem. Since I don't have much information to go on, I cannot guarantee that this solved the problem reported on misc@dartlang. But these two changes should address all known issues with nonsensical error messages.

The changes are:

http://code.google.com/p/dart/source/detail?r=7660 (ensure that all diagnostics have location information)

http://code.google.com/p/dart/source/detail?r=7661 (attempt to diagnose what method was being compiled if the compiler crashes)

Added Fixed label.
