Design

Aside from minor changes to the theme overall (to be consistent with the child interface), the majority of functionalities within the parent interface has been kept. Changes made to functionality include removing the power to set rewards from parents; in the final prototype, children set their tasks and rewards, which are submitted to the parents. Parents receive notifications and can approve these tasks and rewards, with the option to increase or decrease rewards, and the option to "suggest" tasks for their child.

We have also added in 2 main pages which can be accessed via the icons at the bottom of the screen - Tasks and Notifications. The Task page displays tasks that are pending approval, and the Notifications page displays all notifications. These can include when a child has completed a task, when a child has added a new task, or when a child has used up all their time allowance. These pages were added after user testing indicated navigation was non-intuitive and troublesome. Parents required simpler interfaces compared to their tech-savvy teenagers and hence for the final design, our team decided to simplify the app interface for them by using basic recognizable terms and making navigation more efficient.
