What Has Been Done:

Concept Refinement and Solidification

The stand-up session was an especially eye-opening one, as we had in-depth discussions with the tutors about our project's concept and the implications behind the copious amounts of research that was done regarding our domain. The discussions led to us further refine and solidify our project's core concept and direction.

Surveys and Questions

Nick came up with some questions for user testing and had Winifred and Kevin review them. It was one google form and there were about 15 questions in total, focused at teenagers.

Initial Sketches and Prototype

Vivian and Winifred drew up some sketches in pencil after brainstorming with the team and after everyone had a look at the sketches, we all went on proto.io to start creating the 1st prototype.

Feedback from Tutors:

  • Idea is sound, but may require further research with regard to user retention (Gamification being the solution)
  • Survey questions were too general, and it was unclear what we were testing - Navigation? Functionality? Surveys should be carried out with a specific focus, thus having multiple surveys to gather data on multiple fronts seems to be the best method of gathering as much data as possible
  • As our target demographic are teenagers (still in school), it could be tough to obtain permission and consent to conduct testing on them so we may have to use proxys
  • Initial sketches and prototype look fine, although we should think about the social aspect of this solution - how can we incorporate it?

Reflection and Plan

  • We have to rethink the purpose of our user testing and decide what it is exactly that we want to test and get feedback on
  • We have to work on prototyping and do as much as possible, so that we can have a prototype for user testing.
  • We need to consider the social aspect of this technology, perhaps we could incorporate a parent interface for this app. If so, we will need to do some research into this and draw up some sketches for the parent interface. We will also have to conduct user testing for the parent interface.
