Today CSI/CSM for replication supports only multipathd as multipathing service.
When used with SRDF metro and there are path down, multipathd can be slower due to the way it chooses the path to send IO.
PowerPath has more option to select active / preferred path and proved to be faster in certain situations than multipathd.
PowerPath is for free with most of PowerMax deals and therefore fairly used by our customers.
This feature will also support FS volume expansion on powerpath.
