  • Skips added for additional cutscenes in Cavern of the Stolen Fayth including Pre-Yojimbo cutscene

Estimated time change to the previous release: 35 seconds faster.

Some small sections of gameplay have been added back in to closer reflect a normal playthrough.

Returning Gameplay:

  • Dream Zanarkand. Talking to both the kids and the girls during the first screen when naming Tidus.
  • Kilika Antechamber. Now requires the player to walk up, then to Wakka then back towards the entrance.
  • Seymour's house. Now requires the player to talk to Auron, Wakka, Lulu and Rikku (in any order) before talking to Yuna.
  • Farplane. Now requires the player to walk to Wakka and then to Yuna.

New Skips:

  • Added a skip for the Underwater Ruins lights turning on cutscene.
  • Reworked Tidus/Aeon naming scenes, skipping various small scenes and improving stability.
  • Reworked Home Chimera's skip to make the skip faster.

Bug Fixes:

  • Reworked Tidus / Aeon naming cutscene skips to fix potential for slow/fast Ifrit.
  • Fixed issue with Dona cutscene sometimes not skipping.
  • Reworked pre-Seymour and post-Seymour boss skips. This may have some impact on Guado bridge crashes but no guarantees.
  • Reworked Isaaru cutscene skip to hopefully avoid the bug of the cutscene playing if an encounter triggers on the cutscene trigger line.
  • Slightly reworked the Kilika Temple pray transition to attempt a fix for an uncommon bug with the skip not occurring.

Extra:

  • Assembly is now signed to hopefully reduce OS-level warnings about untrustworthy applications.
  • Reduced file size by stripping unused assemblies.

Changes

  • Implemented new methodology on Sinspawn Gui and Spectral Keeper Boss Cutscene Skips to manually trigger fight and then transition after the fight.
  • Same methodology also added for Geosgaeno, Evrae, Sanctuary Keeper, Left Fin, Right Fin, and Sin Core.
  • Added Back Bahamut Fayth "Defeat Yu Yevon" gameplay.
  • Added Back Talking to Wakka in Kilika Temple to Pray or Standy and watch.

Overall this update is a significant time save over previous versions (estimated 2:00), mostly due to including both Sinspawn Gui cutscene skips.

Time Impacted Changes (Estimates)

  • Added Overdrive Sin Cutscene Skip (-0:05)
  • Added movement section - Rikku wants to stay in Thunder Plains Inn (+0:04)
  • Changed pre-Evrae cutscene skip to fix softlock (+0:02)
  • Added pre-Sinspawn Gui cutscene skip (-1:15)
  • Removed post-Sinspawn Gui 1 cutscene skip (+1:20)

Notes:
Players were reporting crashes happening with the Gui skip. To investigate, we've disabled the cutscene skips that are happening in previous versions, but adding in the pre-Gui skip to offset the time changes.
We're hoping that this helps narrow down the cause of the crash.

Overall we anticipate the time gain/loss to be +/- 5 seconds.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the story would sometimes reset upon re-visiting the Thunder Plains.
  • Fixed an issue where the game would softlock on Evrae if your party was not Tidus/Kimahri/Rikku.
  • You can now menu before Geosgaeno (note that the issue with the menu sometimes being permanently disabled after Geosgaeno still persists).

Other notes:

  • We will only be publishing x86 from now on.
  • We have an icon now! (Thanks Shenef)
