I see no reason not to add support for this, but I don't feel it's a priority. It would likely be pretty easy to add as the support for similar things is already in place. |

It would require a library to parse this new format though.. which seems YAML enough that maybe YAML could just be used. |

The current front matter hack works nicely enough. For this suggestion to not be a hack it would have to be adopted as a "standard" and implemented in all (or most of) the Markdown rendering engines we support. |

I'm looking at Hugo as a replacement for my Docs site, but would need support for Markdown Extra features. |

I would love to see this feature as well. In my case, I have many custom div classes (from my workflow with org-mode) and I would like to be able to use them in Hugo. This: <div class="definition-block">

</div>does not work, but it would work with Markdown Extra. |

Actually, in my case, I don't need Markdown Extra. The reason my html code was not rendered has to do with the change from Blackfriday to goldmark. This nice post gave me the answer and solution. Sorry for the noise. |
