missed this commit, maybe containers/buildah#3666 (comment) will have less drawbacks?

I had trouble with getting these solutions to work and went for the first thing that worked for me
I'm not too concerned about the drawbacks of using the vfs storage driver for our use case (reduced performance - it's not critical that this runs fast or uses too much disk space)
I won't object to additional changes of course :)

yeah I see those issues you mentioned, I think this is better than applying all kinds of privileges from
https://www.redhat.com/sysadmin/podman-inside-kubernetes to this container

This hasn't been possible to run for a while because bazeldnf had a problem with the packages, but changes in the centos packaging have made that problem go away, time to update!
