New KB location: Cloud VPS > Email > Plesk Email Overview

Goal

Give a brief overview of how Plesk mail services work and what features are available.

Content summary

I think our current article doesn't introduce the topic sufficiently. It focusses too much on "how to" without first providing any overview of what's actually possible.

So I would like to start with something like this:

Plesk provides a wide range of basic email functionality including mailbox hosting, aliases (to receive messages for multiple addresses to a single mailbox), auto-responders, group mailboxes (to forward messages to multiple recipients) and basic spam filtering controls.

Mail can be accessed via standard POP3 / IMAP protocols via any desktop / mobile email client of choice, or integrated webmail applications (Horde or Roundcube).

Other topics to introduce (we should create more focussed articles to address those topics in detail, and link to them once created):

  • DKIM + SPF (outgoing)
  • Server-wide settings such as outgoing message limits, SPF / DKIM / DMARC verification, mail size limits etc.

Mailbox configuration steps for specific email clients should also be covered in separate articles.

Notes

The existing content (from old KB) may need review and revision. Some suggestions about possible changes above...
