Rayyan is in a physiological biology class, which will most likely prove useful for the movements of organisms
-
Reviewing the timeline
-
Zooplankton: nylon net
- potential have two materials - more rigid and one more fluid
- spirals/circles? we do not want spiderweb
- start getting materials and experimenting with how they interact with each other
- lights: fiber optic cable or LEDs (LEDs need wire and would potentially be visible)
- the cables may or may not be an issue with the LEDs
- is this interaction triggered by motion or light? or both?
- if motion: think about where the sensor will be located
-
Create a small scale model for the zooplankton
- 4 different wires and vertices
-
Materials to Discuss/Test:
- nylon thread
- LED lights? LED strips?
- fiber optics
- spool and wire
- motor: servo
- frame: plywood (prototype), metal pipe (final product)
- paper mache materials
-
Potentially go to Nahant and see Rayyan's professor's biomechanic research
- tentatively a Monday afternoon
-
Barnacles:
- Figure out what materials to make cirri and how to make the accurate movement
- joints and strings per sarah
- could extend the mechanism into the table
- outer shell: paper mache (at least for model) or plaster mold
-
Meet on Sunday 1/21 @ Maker Lab
- Making the model of zooplankton net
- Potentially make barnacle outside shell
