It is awkward to translate leaf type to Dutch without differentiating between a single tree and multiple trees. We use the word "loofboom" to say "broadleleaved tree" and "naaldboom" for "needleleaved tree", and they can't be modified not to imply singular/plural without losing considerable recognizability by native speakers.
