Units and magnitudes: (Michael, Phil, Jamie, Dave)
- Boris and Michael spent a lot of time discussing this. Mostly in line with Rebecca's comments.
- Jamie: doesn't like this process. Not the way sub-groups should work.
- JT: Dave says we will roll out Phil's proposal internally.
- Rebecca: What does this mean?
- Jamie: Phil has updated an instance of the Spark database and implemented his proposal there in order to test how it works. Third option proposed at OKE: Boris mentioned including the unit of measure in the datatype.
- Boris: Makes triples more compact but doesn't work well for magnitude comparisons.
- Rebecca: Keep magnitude object as numeric value + uom. Then have a higher level value that adds in the aspect.
- Jamie: Initially thought this, but now not sure. To what degree is an object numeric value + uom resusable? Depends on context.
- Boris: Agree, depends on use case. But likes numeric value + uom as an independent object for reusability, then aspect at a higher level of composition. (Agrees with Michael and Rebecca.)
- Jamie: This is a small issue. The bigger difference is whether units are classes are not.
- Rebecca: UnitGroup vs StandardUnit - functionally the same.
