ocean stochastic physics

Description

Coupled ensemble data assimilation will need stochastic schemes to address model uncertainty in all components of the coupled system. I first cut of ocean stochastic physics (SPPT and TKE perturbations in the Energetic PBL) have been developed and can get merged into the UFS.

Solution

Additions of calls to ocean stochastic physics from MOM6 and modifications to code in parameterizations/vertical are necessary.
In addition, the capability of writing out stochastic physics restarts in netCDF at the restart interval is supported

The EMC MOM6 repo is currently frozen due to the GFDL code updates. Jiande suggested adding the ocean stochastic physics related changes to GFDL repo so that they can be reviewed by GFDL before it is committed to EMC MOM6 repo.

on GFDL side Bob has already taken a look at Phil's code, and has some concerns on the way the code is inserted in the MOM6 code. Bob is going to give guidance to Phil on the top level design on where and how to implement the stochastic code in MOM6. Phil told me that he will have a tag-up with Bob this month.
