Zend_Console_Getopt: Missing required parameter consumes next option as its parameter value

Following up on this archived bug (Which is still opened I can see)

Zend_Console sounds like to be an implementation of the Linux Console Line Interface. (Correct me if I am wrong).

if anyone opens a linux console now, and type :

find -name -printf '%p\n'

They'll get an error stating that the -name parameter is not set.

but if you type :

find -name "-printf '%p\n'"

You 'll get no errors.

As a linux user, This is the kind of behaviour I expect.

In Zend Framework, IF you have let's say -a, and -b required parameters, and you do :

php MyZendOptScript.php

=> It won't throw any exceptions saying that -a and -b are missing. But they are required.

php MyZendOptScript.php -a -b banana

=> The value of the '-a' option will be set to '-b', and the -b option will be empty. which is not the behaviour that anyone here can expect.

Well ZF1 is Open Source so you could perhaps look at doing a PR and contributing instead of complaining.

Sorry for the late reply, I submitted a pull request.

I noticed as well that the validation was flawed, so I created a function checkRequiredArguments() That throws an Exception.

To make sure I won't break anyone's code, this function is public and is not automatically invoked when parsing the arguments. Instead You'll have to call it manually.
