Game Menu

Open File...

Use this option to open supported files that are not directly related to the current game. You can either choose from a file selection dialog or drag and drop the file from your file manager into the drop region.

You can also open internal game resources this way by selecting Open internal file and select the resource from the list.

Shortcut: Ctrl+I (macOS: Command+I)

Open Game...

This option allows you to open a new game. The new game is determined by the file chitin.key which is part of every Infinity Engine game installation. Near Infinity remembers the last game and automatically opens it when you start this tool the next time. (Note: Game installations found in the same folder as NearInfinity.jar will take priority.)

Shortcut: Ctrl+O (macOS: Command+O)

Refresh Tree

Use this option to instruct Near Infinity to reset all temporary caches and repopulate the resource tree. It is mostly useful to detect new resources added to the override folder(s) of the game.

Shortcut: F5

Game Properties...

This option displays a summary of general game properties. It includes folder path(s), available languages, the location of the game's configuration file and an overview of supported resource types.

Preferences...

This option opens the Preferences dialog. See Preferences for more details.

Shortcut: Ctrl+P (macOS: Command+P)

Bookmarked games

This submenu allows you to bookmark games with a user-defined name. It is mainly useful if you are a modder and have installed many differently configured game installations in parallel. Bookmark games can be quickly opened by shortcuts Ctrl+Alt+1, Ctrl+Alt+2, ... through Ctrl+Alt+0 for bookmarked entries 1 to 10, and Ctrl+Alt+Shift+1, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+2, ... through Ctrl+Alt+Shift+0 for bookmarked entries 11 to 20.

Add current game...

This option will add the currently opened game to the bookmark list. You can specify a custom name for it. The name will also be displayed in the window title bar of Near Infinity if available.

Shortcut: Ctrl+Alt+B (macOS: Command+Option+B)

Edit bookmarks...

Bookmark Editor

Opens the bookmark editor. It allows you to remove bookmarked games, change their names and associated properties, or move their position within the bookmark list.

Recently opened games

This submenu stores a list of the most recently opened games for quick and easy access.

Quit

Closes Near Infinity.

Shortcut: Ctrl+Q (macOS: Command+Q)
