Install System Views Map

FineBuild can install and configure the SQL System Views Map as part of the SQL Server install process.
System Views Map is produced by Microsoft. It was chosen to be included in FineBuild because it provides a visual summary of the key system views included in SQL Server and the relationships between them.
System Views Map is not available for SQL 2014 and above. If you install the System Views Map you must also Install PDF Reader or a similar product in order to view it.

A System Views Map printed copy can be obtained from some of the sponsors shown on the PDF document. A charge may be made for this.
Automated silent installation of System Views Map is performed by Process Id 4SH and is controlled by the parameters below:

In order to maintain compatibility with older versions of SQL FineBuild, the parameters /InstSystemViews: and /InstSQLTools: can also be used.
FineBuild also uses the following parameters to help install System Views Map:

The System Views Map will be installed with CLIENT and WORKSTATION builds, but not with a FULL build. If you want to install it with a FULL build, the following parameter should be added at run time:

The following steps show what you would have to do to install the System Views Map manually. FineBuild does all of this work for you automatically.

Navigate to the Additional Components folder
Copy the System Views Map file as described below:

Setup a Menu item for the System Views Map in the Documentation and Tutorials menu

Highlight the System Views Map file
Right-click and select Copy

Navigate to the SQL Server Documentation menu folder on C:\
Select Paste Shortcut

Rename the menu shortcut
