How to use and print predefined text blocks

Sometimes (e.g. at exhibitions) it is helpful if the teleprinter can print out information about itself or other ready-made text modules at the touch of a button. Or you may want to be able to insert fixed text blocks such as your signature or other standard texts into your telexes.

For such cases, piTelex offers the option of retrieving predefined text files from Release 2024-08 onwards.

The text files must be located in the piTelex subdirectory read and must be plain ASCII-encoded (no .docx or something similar...); they are converted into ITA2-compatible form on the fly when retrieved.

A total of 10 files can be processed. The file names must be 0.txt to 9.txt. To retrieve a file, enter WR (carriage return) five or more times in succession on the teleprinter, followed by the number of the file (0..9). This inserts the contents of the file into the teletype at the current position.

Important

This does not work in the local mode of a ccu controlled teletypewriter, as there is then no connection to piTelex. To be able to use this feature even without an active teletype connection, simply set up a local pseudo connection by dialling "000".
