  • User defined, meaning that the user can actually customize the hotkeys to there own liking
  • not Microsoft Predefined hotkeys, that cant be changed (microsoft is bad at this)

@martinandersen3d @dparlevliet @wookiesh Hey everyone, I'm currently working on a feature to implement Hotkeys to quickly switch between FancyZones custom layouts, and would love to get your feedback! If you're interested, please fill out this form.

Feedback from anyone else who would need such a feature is welcome as well.

I have the "non-primary mouse button" as my preferred method for FancyZone activation. Using the scroll wheel to cycle through a predefined list of layouts is what I would find the most intuitive. Hotkeys are fine, but I think a cycle is more efficient when having many layouts

Thanks for the amazing job on this so far!

This has been resolved in the 0.35 release. https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases/latest

Thank you so much for the work on this feature! As happy as I am to have a keyboard shortcut to swap layouts, a 5-button combination is only useful in a few situations. I think it would be really nice if, while holding shift and dragging a window to drop into a zone, I could press the ~ key to quickly swap between layouts I have assigned a number.

Am I blind or setting your own shortcut is not actually possible? What I get on 0.49.1 is this (hovering with mouse over the info):

The 1 is a drop down menu.

I get that, but I still have to use Win + Ctrl + Alt + Whatever I choose in the dropdown. My question was whether you can set your own shortcut.

This shortcut is impossible to do with one hand.
WIN + CTRL + ALT + [0-9] is not convenient and not easy at memorize each layout.

I propose that when we maintain SHIFT to display FancyZone, we could use :
KEY DOWN and KEY UP or use MOUSE WHEEL to switch layout.

With an image it is more evident. 😉

I just started using FancyZones recently and am missing the option to quickly cycle through the different layouts. This proposed solution would be absolutely ideal in my opinion and would be a huge improvement to the tool. Judging by the number of likes I assume I am not the only one who feels this way.

Since this issue is closed, what would be the best way to bring this back on the agenda and hopefully get it implemented? Open a new issue and reference the post?

I totally agree with this. It would be huge to have a simpler shortcut.
