Working with Statsbooks
If you have a prepared WFTDA statsbook (2019 version) for an upcoming game, you can prepare the game in CRG by importing this statsbook. In order to do so:
- Open the "Games / Teams / Rulesets" page (from the "Manage Data" section of the index page).
- Either drag and drop the statsbook file to the area around the "Choose File" button or click "Choose File" and select the statsbook in the dialog that opens.
- Click "Import Statsbook".
- Wait for the software to process the file. (There will be a spinner indicating that processing is going on - depending on your computer this can take from a few seconds to a few minutes.)
- Once the file is processed, the game should show up in the games section below.
- If it doesn't, something went wrong. See Getting Help below.
Note: Statsbooks that have been edited on Google Sheets and redownloaded are known to cause issues with CRG. It is recommended to prepare your statsbook with Excel or LibreOffice.
You can both export a statsbook pre-game in order to print sheets for the game and export the full stats after the game for evaluation or submitting to a governing body. The export process is the same for both scenarios.
Note: It is recommended to check the exported statsbook before sending it off to a governing body.
This has to be done only once. The blank statsbook file will then be reused for all exports. Note: Having imported a game from a Statsbook does NOT allow you to skip this step.
- Download a copy of the 2019 statsbook from the WFTDA resources page. Either paper format works, as do copies where you adjusted the margins.
- Open the "Games / Teams / Rulesets" page (from the "Manage Data" section of the index page).
- Either drag and drop the statsbook file to the area around the "Choose File" button or click "Choose File" and select the statsbook in the dialog that opens.
- Click "Upload Blank Statsbook".
- Open the game in the "Games / Teams / Rulesets" page and navigate to the IGRF tab.
- If the game is currently loaded in the operator screen, you can also use the IGRF tab there.
- In the "Game Files" row near the top click "Update".
- Wait for the software to process the file. (There will be a spinner indicating that processing is going on - depending on your computer this can take from a few seconds to a few minutes.)
- Once processing is done, the "Last Updated" timestamp should be updated to the current date and time.
- If it isn't, something went wrong. See Getting Help below.
- If you want to redownload a statsbook later, you can also find it in the "Game Files" section of the files screen.
- This copy will also remain after you delete the game data from internal storage.
-
Note: a number of cells in the statsbook file are calculated. For example, the jammer numbers on the Lineups page are copied from the Score page. These calculated cells will not be filled in when the statsbook is first exported from CRG. In order to fill in those cells, the statsbook must be opened in a spreadsheet program that will calculate those values.
- Microsoft Excel will update the values automatically when the statsbook is opened.
- Other software may require a manual recalculation - please consult the documentation for that software.
- These values should be updated before being fed to third party software, such as the statsbook error checker.
CRG does not directly support JRDA statsbooks, as CRG can't directly read/write google docs and converting forth and back is likely to break formulas. But you can still get the data into and out of the statsbook faster than typing everything manually.
- Export to a WFTDA statsbook as described above.
- Open the statsbook with a suitable program and copy all the cells from the "Score", "Penalties", and "Lineups" tabs that you would usually type.
- Make sure to use "Paste Value", so you don't break formatting or formulas.
- Make sure to not overwrite cells with formulas.
- You can also copy team and officials rosters.
- If your game had a jam that was continued after an injury call-off:
- On the "Score" tab adjust the numbers of the jams following the continued one.
You can copy a complete team/NSO/referee roster at once and paste it into one of the textboxes for adding a new skater/official.
If you can't get the im/export working even after stopping and restarting CRG, you may want to open an issue on github.
Have as much of the following information as you can:
- Does the problem appear for all games/statsbooks or only for a specific one?
- The "crg.log" file from the logs folder of your CRG installation.
- For specific imports: The statsbook you are trying to import.
- For specific exports: The JSON file of the game you are trying to export.
- If all im/exports are affected: The complete ScoreBoard JSON you can get with the "All Data" button in the download section of the "Games / Teams / Rulesets" page.
- Avoid giving out your autosave file. It may contain sensitive data that is filtered from the "All Data" export.
