Manage the PIN code

You can protect your hardware wallet with a PIN code. After doing this it will only be possible to perform certain operations with the hardware wallet by entering the PIN code, so the funds will be much more secure if an unauthorized person has access to the device.

If an unauthorized person tries to guess the PIN code by making several wrong attempts, the device will ask to wait some time before making another attempt, making it very difficult for an attack of this type to be effective (unless the PIN code is easy to guess for the attacker).

To activate this option, press the “Create PIN code” button on the hardware wallet options window. If the device already has a PIN code, you can change it by pressing the “Change PIN code” button:

//The image should have an arrow poiting to the buttom or something similar//

After pressing the button and confirming the operation, you will have to enter the current PIN (if the device already has one) and the new PIN. To do this, the hardware wallet shows a numbers matrix like this one:

Also the desktop wallet shows a butons matrix like this one:

//The content of the buttons will be changed to the “•” symbol//

You must use the button matrix to enter the numbers of the PIN, assuming that each button shown in the butons matrix (desktop wallet) corresponds to the number displayed in that same position on the numbers matrix (hardware wallet screen). It is possible to use the numeric keypad to enter the PIN, but it is necessary to take into account that, for example, as with the buttons matrix, if the upper left key of the numeric keypad is pressed, a number 7 will not be entered, but the number that is shown in the upper left corner of the numbers matrix in the hardware wallet.

For creating a new PIN, it is necessary to enter it twice (to confirm that it is correct). If the hardware wallet already has a PIN and it is being changed, it is necessary to first enter the current PIN and then the new PIN, also 2 times. The hardware wallet and the desktop wallet indicate at all times what to enter.

Delete the PIN code:

Warning: It is not recommended to delete the PIN code, since your hardware wallet would be vulnerable in case some unauthorized person has access to it. Please avoid doing this unless it is very necessary.

To delete the PIN code, simply press the “Delete PIN code” button on the hardware wallet options window and follow the instructions:

//The image should have an arrow poiting to the buttom or something similar//
