Restore configuration

To restore a backup, you need the seed of the wallet you want to recover. The seed is simply a list of 12 or 24 words that serves as the unique and secure identifier of your wallet and allows you to regain access to your address and coins if something happens to the device.

Warning: To avoid problems, use only seeds created with the same hardware wallet or a similar one. Do not use seeds created with a software wallet or other hardware wallet model.

To start the process, press the “Restore backup” button on the hardware wallet options window:

After that, select how many words the seed has and the hardware wallet will start asking for the words of the seed (and maybe some additional random words), in random order. The hardware wallet requests the words like this:

At the same time, the desktop wallet will show this window, where you will be able to enter the words requested by the hardware wallet:

If the hardware wallet asks for a random word and it is not entered correctly, the process will fail. After entering all the words, the hardware wallet will verify if the seed is valid and the process will fail if it is not. This helps to prevent problems if the words were entered in an incorrect order.

After finishing, the following window is displayed, informing that the process has been completed correctly and allowing you to change the name with which the hardware wallet will be identified:
