Working Group Goals

The goals of the Autonomy Hardware working group are being refined during the first weeks for fixing and aligning all working groups. Initial goals are:

  1. Defining platforms requirements
  2. Defining platforms tests
  3. Accompanying partners for Reference Platform development
  4. Synchronizing platform with roadmap software and overall Autoware roadmap (AI, Auto, Demo)
  5. Referencing Reference Platforms for the community (not selling)

Current Activities

The Autonomy Hardware working group is currently working on

  1. Defining its own role and detailing objectives: collection and classification of Reference Hardware per ODD
  2. Defining the methodology for starting the requirements definition: Plan provided to last TSC
  3. List Reference Hardware per ODD (collection of Hardware)
  4. Elaborate commonality (generic Reference Hardware)
  5. Elaborate Validation plan

For more information and current works-in-progress, see the minutes.

Autoware.Auto Supported Hardware List

This document is created to describe and give additional information of the sensors and systems supported by Autoware.Auto software.

All equipment listed in this document has available ROS2 drivers and is tested by one or more of the community members on the field in autonomous vehicle and robotics applications.

The listed sensors and systems are not sold, developed or given direct technical support by the Autoware community. Having said that any ROS2 and Autoware related issue regarding the hardware usage could be asked using the community guidelines which found here: https://answers.ros.org/questions/ask/?tags=autoware

How to participate in the working group

Working group meetings

The Autonomy Hardware working group meets every two weeks. The meeting time rotates through three time zones to give fair coverage to the whole world.

To receive calendar invites to the working group's meetings, join the Autonomy Hardware working group's meeting invite group. Being a member of this group will ensure you receive calendar invites for all working group meetings. However you do not need to be a member of this group to participate in meetings or working group activities.

You can also look at the Autoware Foundation's events calendar for when the upcoming meetings will be held. If you use Google Calendar, you can subscribe to this calendar directly to have it displayed alongside your own calendar events. To do this, click the "+ Google Calendar" link in the bottom right corner of that site. Note that this will not add the events to your own calendar, meaning you may not receive notifications about meetings starting soon. For those not using Google Calendar, you can add the calendar to your own by downloading it as an ICS file and importing that into your calendar software.

The Autonomy Hardware working group may announce meetings on the ROS Discourse in the Autoware category. Keep an eye on that category for meeting announcements, then simply join the meeting to participate.
