I've found a minor difference between dartc accepted input and dart_bin:

krukow:~$ cat scratchpad/dartc_vs_vm.dart

f(a [b=42]) => b;

main () {print(f(1,2));}

krukow:$ dart_bin scratchpad/dartc_vs_vm.dart

It looks to me like there should be a comma after 'a'. In spec 0.3 section 6.2 specifies a comma

formalParameterList:
(')' |
(' normalFormalParameters (, ' namedFormalParameters)? `)

So I'm assigning over to the VM for them to take a look
