EESSI/Azure sync meeting 2023-02-17

Slurm cluster in Azure (Kenneth)
- status mostly unchanged since last meeting
- still need to set up partitions for specific CPU types (based on feedback from Davide)
- one Ampere Altra build node in use to build optimized EESSI pilot 2021.12 software stack
updates on GPU support (Alan)
- Original PR being split into parts
  - CUDA PR adds CUDA and CUDA-Samples to the software layer
  - Another PR will split out the support for the CUDA compat libraries
    - This does not seem to work when EESSI is inside a container (see Issue 231)
      - Not a big deal for the use cases that Davide has in mind
  - Final PR will handle the user facing aspect (via Lmod hooks). This will require a new compat layer as we will need Lmod 8.7.14+

- program is slowly coming together (incl. interesting keynote speaker)
- talk by Azure HPC team? (remote talk is worth considering)
  - Davide will discuss this with Hugo, perhaps an AZHOP demo can be interesting (similar to the demo at SC)
