Notes
“cmi.exit” Functionality - LRS query optimization
Chris Handorf raised a concern about difficultly caused by having to search multiple statements to determine the reason why a learner exited an AU. The existing CMI-5 specification does allow for “result” to be added to an “Exited” statement, but this is not mandatory.
Possible solutions discussed (individually or in combination):
- Restrict CMI-5 Context requirements only to statements with CMI-5 verbs
- Add additional identifiers in CMI-5 contexts for "easy search".
CMI-5 Runtime
Section 7.2.1. Says “AU shall retrieve the value of session_id…as specified in section 8." But section 8 has no mention of session_id. Should it refer instead to Section 10: State API?
Change to Section 10
CMI-5 Course Structure
Leave " entitlementKey: alternate" out of course structure for security and practical reasons - unable to know in key processing for this use-case in advance. LMS and content vendor will negotiate this separately.
More Specification “To Do’s”

Next Time
Next meeting we will:
- Continue to discuss LRS query optimization possibilities.
