There are basically three types of macros in the Cypher system already prepared for use in your game: (1) Roll Macros, (2) Utility Macros, and (3) Secret Setting Macros. The macros are found in a compendium each. There’s another type of macro, Item Macros, which are not found in the compendia, but are created by dragging items onto the hotbar.

Setting Up Macros

Go the the Compendium tab in the sidebar and select “Cypher System Macros.” There you find a number of macros, which are explained in more detail in their respective sections (see above). If you right-click a macro and select “Import Entry,” the macro gets copied into the Macros Directory of the world. You can access that by clicking the small folder icon to the left of your Macro Bar. In order for your players to be able to use the macros in the Macros Directory you need to give your players the proper permission for each macro. You can do that by right-clicking the macro, select “Configure Permission,” and then give all players any permission (Limited works, if you don’t want that the players edit the macros). From there, you can drag & drop the macros onto the Macro Bar.

Alternatively, you can drag & drop the macros right from the compendium onto the macro bar. The players can do that as well, so there’s no need for giving any permissions. Note that all macros will be in the Macros Directory of the GM, so if all your players have the Quick Roll macro dragged from the compendium onto the Macro Bar, the GM will have one Quick Roll macro for each player in their Macros Directory.

Customizing Macros

The All-in-One Roll macro and Item Roll macro can be customized so that different defaults can be used. The Quick Roll (All-in-One Template) is designed so that you can create your own roll macro and automate most aspects of a roll, much like you do with the All-in-One Roll macro, but without the dialog. Refer to the specific macro sections for an explanation on how to customize the macros.
